Meet Our Pastors
Rev. Ken Roh (ALC Pastor)
The Rev. Ken Roh has been preaching since the early 1990s when he was a college student and has been in pastoral ministry since he began as a youth pastor in 2002. He has served in various settings including as the EM Pastor of KUMC of South Suburban Chicago in Flossmoor, IL for 8 years and most recently as the Senior Pastor of Frankfort United Methodist Church in Frankfort, IL since 2013.
Pastor Ken was born in South Korea, and his family immigrated to the United States when he was eleven years old in 1983. He has been a Midwesterner throughout his life in the U.S. He grew up, went to college, and got married in Ohio before moving and settling in Illinois. He joined the U.S. Army Reserve out of high school and served on active duty while he was in college. He sensed God’s call to ministry while attending college, but upon graduation, he pursued a brief corporate career. As the nudging and the restlessness persisted in his heart, he made the decision to follow God’s call into ministry. He earned a Master of Divinity Degree from Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary (Evanston, IL) and later, a Master of Science in Nonprofit Management from Spertus College (Chicago, IL). Currently, he is working on his doctorate from United Theological Seminary (Dayton, OH).
Over the past decade and half, he has been an active member of TG Ministry and Nexus Ministry (national network of NextGen Korean American United Methodists). As an Ordained Elder in the Northern Illinois Conference of the United Methodist Church, Pastor Ken has served on the Conference Board of Ordained Ministry, the church body that credentials candidates for ministry.
He is a Wesleyan Methodist who believes in the power of divine grace to produce scriptural holiness in God’s people. He is a Trinitarian that believes that the doctrine of Trinity captures the essence of who God is and who we are created to be. His goal in life is to pursue holiness by the power of the Holy Spirit and to equip and mobilize the church to participate in the church’s mission to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world.
He has been married to his wife, Hannah, a physical therapist, for almost 21 years, and they are proud parents of four children, Sam (19), Sophia (16), Lizzie (14), and Shane (11).
Pastor Eric Ferguson (ALC Associate Pastor)
Pastor Eric is the associate pastor of ALC, serving ALC's administrative needs while leading CAYA ministry, a branch of ALC. If you were to ask P. Eric what it is that keeps him bright-eyed and bushy-tailed, he would tell you that his passion flows from his calling. Since 2008, it has been Eric's calling from God to pursue Army Chaplaincy. It was God's idea, and all Eric had to do was say, "yes." Following Eric's "yes" to the calling, Eric would also learn to say "yes" to things like truth, faith, hope and love, along with hard things like forgiveness, humility, obedience and sacrifice. Ultimately, Eric only wants to keep saying "yes" to Jesus. Through many a testimony, he hopes you will say "yes" to Jesus too!
Eric grew up in the San Gabriel Valley, east of Los Angeles, with his parents, Kim and William. After high school, he attended The University of Southern California, majoring in Fine Arts with an emphasis in Design. Following his call to ministry, he studied at Fuller Theological Seminary and received a Masters in Divinity. As a volunteer, he served the church as a Pre-School and Elementary teacher’s assistant, Youth Group Teacher, Men’s Group Leader, and Lay Leader. As a minister-in-training, he has served as a college pastoral intern, hospice intern, army chaplain intern, college pastor, and now, associate pastor at Abundant Life Community. He is married to the lovely Christie Ferguson and enjoys art-making, rock-climbing, and Jesus-loving.
Pastor Dan Kim (Youth Pastor)
Hi everyone, this is Pastor Dan Kim! I was born and raised in good ol' Virginia all my life. God has currently relocated me to the PromiseLand that is San Diego. I just started a new journey pastoring a wonderful group of mighty sons and daughters of LinC Ministry. Prior to this move I was serving as the youth pastor at KUMC of Centreville F.A.T Ministries (Faithful. Available. Teachable). I enjoy good conversations, eating and more eating. I also like to say that I play sports, but I like enjoy eating more. Aside from eating chocolate cake my passion is to see all people grow intimate with God. My goal in life is to surrender my life to our amazing Father and magnify Him in all that I do.
